Severe Thunderstorm Watches Now Cover Much of New England

The Storm Prediction Center has issued two Severe Thunderstorm Watches now in effect for much of New England this afternoon and evening:

  • Watch #441 (until 9:00 PM EDT):

    • Connecticut, Central & Western Massachusetts, Vermont, Eastern New York, Northern New Jersey, Northeast Pennsylvania

  • Watch #443 (until 11:00 PM EDT):

    • New Hampshire, Western and Northern Maine

Storms are already active and spreading northeast through the region, with the strongest activity expected through the late afternoon and early evening.

⚠️ Main Threats Across the Region:

  • 💨 Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph

  • 🌨️ Hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter

  • 🌪️ An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out

  • ⚡ Frequent lightning and brief downpours

The atmosphere remains very unstable in southern and eastern areas, while strengthening mid-level winds support more organized storm clusters moving into New Hampshire and Maine.
