Tuesday 1°Outside Today/Noyes’ Notes:
90-95° for Many,
Sea breezes Bring Minor Relief At Coast

Today will be just a bit hotter overall than Monday for most of New England, with highs reaching 90 to 95 degrees inland.  Sea breezes will keep immediate coastal locations a few degrees cooler – generally in the 80s.

Humidity levels today will be noticeable, with dew points running in the 60s for many, though some pockets will remain in the upper 50s. Danielle notes that while this is certainly humid, it is far from the oppressive, tropical feel of dew points in the low to mid 70s that we’ve seen at other points this summer. Overnight, urban centers will take time to cool down, with lows in the upper 60s to near 70, a light southwest breeze, and patchy valley fog developing.

Heat risk is elevated, with “major” risk areas highlighted on the heat index map. Danielle urges checking on those sensitive to heat, staying hydrated, wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing, and taking breaks in the shade. Feels-like temperatures will run in the mid to upper 90s this afternoon.

Looking ahead, Wednesday will be more humid, and the chance for thunderstorms will increase – particularly across northern and western New England, with some storms possibly spreading farther east and lingering into Thursday.
