Weekend Insights: Everything You Need to Know About Our Labor Day Weekend Forecast

It’s a big Labor Day weekend in New England, and the pattern is setting up for a mostly pleasant stretch – with just a few bumps along the way.

Saturday starts fair, with morning sunshine in many areas, but upper-level energy overhead will bubble up clouds and scattered showers by midday, especially across the mountains of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Some embedded downpours are possible, and with cold air aloft, even soft hail or graupel may fall in higher elevations. Farther south, showers will be very isolated. Temperatures hold in the 70s, cooler (60s) where showers develop.

Saturday night turns crisp and chilly with 40s widespread, and even 30s possible in the coldest northern valleys.

Sunday looks fantastic. High pressure crests overhead, skies turn mostly sunny, humidity stays low, and temperatures climb into the 70s region-wide. Another cool night follows, setting the stage for a beautiful finish to the holiday weekend.

Labor Day Monday delivers the pick of the weekend. Sun and clouds mix with sea breezes at the coast, keeping shoreline spots in the low 70s while inland climbs to 75–80. It’s about as perfect as late summer gets: comfortable, bright, and dry.

Looking ahead: Another disturbance may trigger midweek showers, but overall the weather pattern favors near-seasonable afternoons with comfortably cool nights.

Some ocean swell builds again Sunday into Monday, but rip current risk remains relatively low throughout the weekend.
