Tuesday 1°Outside Today/Noyes’ Notes:
Back-to-School &
Back to the Routine!

For many New England families, today marks the official back-to-school start – and the weather is playing along nicely.

The morning greets students with a crisp, refreshing feel. Some may opt for a sweatshirt or light long-sleeve for the first-day photos, but by afternoon it’s all short sleeves and new sneakers weather. Highs climb into the mid-to-upper 70s, with the warmest spots inland and coastal communities staying closer to 70.

Most of the region will stay storm-free, though a few isolated showers or storms may develop between 2 and 7 PM along the Canadian border – northern Vermont, the Northeast Kingdom, and Coös County. While most stay dry, a couple stronger cells could carry brief downpours or even small hail.

Overnight, skies clear and temperatures fall quickly. Expect widespread 50s, with some upper 40s across northern valleys. A light south wind and patchy fog will form in the usual valley spots, along with some low clouds near Cape Cod and northern Maine.

The midweek stretch remains comfortable and quiet with seasonable highs and crisp nights. By Friday, humidity increases noticeably as a cold front sweeps in, bringing a better chance of showers and storms that may linger into early Saturday.
