Tuesday Noyes’ Notes:
Sub-Zero Morning Chill, Few Late Day Snow Showers

It’s a true mid-January day: subzero wind chill early, slowly improving to single digits and teens for “feels like” this afternoon. A few snow showers slip into western/central/northern New England mid–late day. They’re light and hit-or-miss, but a coating to locally ~1″ is enough to re-slick untreated roads and driveways – use caution traveling particularly with big snowbanks limiting visibility after the storm.

Timeline at a glance

  • Late morning–early afternoon: Clouds build; a flurry possible in western New England.

  • 2–4 PM into evening: Light snow showers west → central; a few could skirt the South Coast/Vineyard/Nantucket with a quick flurry.

  • Tonight: Clearing, very cold. Lows single digits & teens; wind chills –5 to –8° central/southern New England, –10 to –20° far north.

Temperatures & wind chill

  • Day: Air temps recover into teens/20s, but feels like single digits/teens.

  • Night: Widespread subzero wind chills; bundle up and go slow on refreezing surfaces.

Parents: it’s a hat + gloves + winter boots kind of day (warm socks help!). Everything you need in our free 1DegreeOutside app (App Store & Google Play, five stars).
