Friday 1°Outside Today/Noyes Notes: Warmest Away from the Ocean, A Few Pop-Up Storms

Clouds and fog are slow to clear early in the day, especially along the coast where onshore wind will keep temperatures in the 70s. As the day progresses, inland areas will break into sunshine, which will help to destabilize the atmosphere and spark some hit or miss thunderstorms – most likely across Vermont, Connecticut, and northwestern Maine. A few of these could bring brief downpours, lightning, and gusty wind before fading with the sunset.

Temperatures will climb into the 80s away from the coast, with interior Northern New England topping out around 80–85°, while the New Hampshire and Maine seacoast hovers in the 70s under that marine influence. Overnight, expect fog and low clouds to redevelop in Southern and Eastern New England with lows dropping into the 60s – not overly warm, but still muggy with dew points staying up.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Danielle reminds viewers not to cancel outdoor plans. Yes, the pattern remains humid and unsettled, but both Saturday and Sunday look largely dry for many cities and towns. It’ll feel like classic New England summer – warm, sticky, and with the occasional pop-up storm through the interior.
