We start this week with a familiar pattern: “cool” coastlines due to an onshore breeze, highs around 70 at the shore and rising into the 70s to near 80 inland. While many areas stay dry Monday, a few interior showers or downpours can’t be ruled out – particularly northern and central Vermont into the North Country, and areas outside I-495 late today.
Overnight lows fall into the 50s again Monday night with patchy fog, low clouds, and a continued southeast breeze under 10 mph.
By midweek, the real story takes hold: a surge in heat and humidity that builds, peaking on Thursday. Dew points will climb, making it feel increasingly sticky and soupy. Wednesday may feature some thunder as a warm front lifts through, then Thursday, a cold front will bring the risk for strong to potentially severe thunderstorms.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the early outlook is surprisingly optimistic- especially for Saturday, which looks warm (highs in the 80s) and likely dry for much of New England. We’ll bring you a look at the upcoming weekend in Insights later on today.
