Snow Set to Arrive To New England Saturday Night Through Sunday Morning – Heaviest Southeast

A quick-pulse winter event arrives tonight, then a brief but sharp Arctic blast follows into Monday. Expect snow to break out late evening (track it with radar in the app!) and continue into early Sunday, with the steadiest burst after midnight and tapering mid to late morning from west to east, but afternoon ocean-effect snow showers linger on the Cape. This looks like a light, plow-at-the-margins kind of storm for most: a coating to around an inch/inch-and-a-half north of the Mass Pike, roughly 1–2″ near the MA Pike, 2–4″ across parts of the South Shore where a narrow band could briefly enhance rates before daybreak, and between 3″ & 6 ” on the Cape, which gets a heavier consistency snow (it’s rain showers now on Nantucket) but does flip to mostly snow. Exact totals hinge on where the overnight band sets up and small temperature differences near the coast. Some roads will be slick early Sunday before improving by midday as drier air arrives. As the system exits, much colder air pours in Sunday afternoon and night on a fresh northwest wind, with gusts commonly 25–35 mph and wind chills dipping to near or below zero by daybreak Monday; highs Monday hold in the 20s despite sun, keeping the “feel” in the teens to near 20 and allowing any untreated moisture to refreeze.
