Sunday Update:
Snow fills in, peaks this evening & overnight, exits early Monday

Snow is already flying across parts of New England this morning and will expand through midday. Expect a lull/light intensity mid-afternoon, then the heaviest burst arrives ~5 PM to midnight, when snowfall may peak near 1″/hr in bands. The storm slides south/east of Nantucket overnight and exits early Monday – western areas taper ~5–7 AM, eastern areas ~7–9 AM (a touch later for a few coastal pockets). No wind or coastal issues with this one.

Snow type & temps

  • Interior/north: colder 20s = fluffier accumulation.

  • Eastern & far SE MA (incl. Boston/Merrimack Valley): wetter/pastier snow.

  • South Coast/Cape/Islands: brief rain mix at times; totals trimmed a bit on Nantucket.

Totals (nudged up a notch)

  • Broad 2–4″ to 4–6″ across southern & eastern New England; we’ve dragged 4–6″ farther north & west into parts of SNE.

  • Widespread 3–6″ now likely for many in the south/east.

  • Locally higher where evening bands park.

  • Lighter north (coating to 2″).

Timing & Impacts

  • Late AM–midday: coverage fills in; light/moderate.

  • Mid-afternoon: brief easing in spots.

  • 5 PM–midnight: peak rates (up to ~1″/hr in bands).

  • Pre-dawn Mon: taper west→east; stragglers offshore after daybreak.

  • BIGGEST IMPACT: Difficult/treacherous travel with reduced visibility & snow covered roads

Tailgating mid-30s → low-30s with light snow. Steadier/heavier snow more likely second half. No wind/coastal concerns—just plan for slick travel home.
