It’s another crisp start – many of us in the 50s, even some 40s in far northern New England. A sweatshirt or light jacket may be welcome at the bus stop, but it won’t be needed all day. By afternoon, sunshine and highs 75-80° will make for a very pleasant day. The South Coast, Cape, and Maine coastline stay cooler in the low to mid 70s thanks to onshore winds.
A line of showers and thunderstorms develops out of New York and into northwestern Vermont between 5–7 PM. As it moves east between 8–10 PM, the storms weaken, but scattered showers and pockets of rain linger overnight into early Friday. Early commuters may encounter downpours and embedded thunder, especially in Maine and eastern areas.
This marks the arrival of more humid air, noticeable Friday and Saturday. Another cold front arrives Saturday afternoon and may trigger scattered thunderstorms – some could be strong. We’ll have the latest details in Insights.
