According to Danielle Noyes of the 1DegreeOutside Weather Network, the end of New England’s intense heat and humidity is finally in sight. Wednesday will still be hot and sticky, with highs in the 90s for many and heat index values nearing 100 degrees in spots, but a cold front will deliver both thunderstorm chances and a refreshing air mass.
The front may trigger isolated strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly in southern New England from midday to early evening. “It won’t be widespread,” Danielle explains, “but storms that do develop could bring torrential rain, lightning, and brief gusty winds.”
By Thursday, dew points drop and highs cool to the 70s, ushering in more comfortable air that will stick around into the weekend. A few showers are possible Thursday and Friday – especially along the South Coast and in the North Country – but most of the region will be dry with overcast skies. The weekend brings pockets of rain across northern New England, with isolated showers in the south. No washout is expected either day. Sunday looks like a few showers may linger, though outdoor plans should still be ok. Check back for updated timing in the coming days!
