Today’s howling wind is the headline. Many towns will see 40–50 mph gusts, and a few exposed spots (far southern VT, the Berkshires, Worcester Hills) can spike near 60 mph. Expect pockets of damage/outages. Gusts throttle back to around 40 mph after 5–6 PM, easing further overnight. Wednesday turns “just” breezy (10–15 mph, gusts to 25).
Snow: Cold, northwest flow lights up the upslope machine – coating to a few inches on the north/northwest-facing slopes of the northern Greens and Whites; the Berkshires get flurries/snow showers, and a couple of flakes may reach farther east. Late tonight into early Wednesday, a few ocean effect flurries/snow showers may also skirt the South Coast, Vineyard & Nantucket.
Cold: Northern New England holds in the single digits today; wind chills run subzero north and single digits/teens elsewhere. Tonight falls to single digits north and teens–low 20s south, with far north wind chills -10 to -20°F.
