Good morning! Danielle Noyes here with your Tuesday edition of Noyes’ Notes for the 1DegreeOutside Weather Network. A classic mid-July day is underway across New England – steamy, summery, and for most of us, storm-free, though a few afternoon pop-up downpours are possible in northern areas.
Most of New England will stay dry today, but late-day thunderstorms may pop across parts of southern New Hampshire, southern Maine, the Route 2 corridor, and the Berkshires, driven by a weak front that stalls overhead. These are scattered, slow-moving storms, capable of producing localized flash flooding and lightning. Radar updates will help pinpoint where and when – we always recommend using our app in Past + Future mode for the best forecast radar experience.
Humidity is again playing a big role, with dew points in the 60s to near 70 in southern and central New England, making it feel sticky to soupy. Heat index values will peak around 92–96°F in many communities, with only slight coastal relief courtesy of a southwest wind and a lingering morning shower for the South Shore to Cape Cod.
Tomorrow is shaping up to be the hottest day of the week, with actual highs in the 90–95° range for much of interior New England. Combine that with high dew points, and it will feel like the mid to upper 90s, if not close to 100°F in some spots.
Morning fog and low clouds may linger early in southern New England, but most areas will break out into sunshine. An isolated afternoon storm is possible, but it should be a mainly dry day, setting the stage for Thursday’s higher storm potential.
While not covered in full detail in this morning’s update, Danielle notes that Thursday brings the return of scattered storms. These will be slow movers, and localized flash flooding could develop again in any areas that get repeated downpours.
While the heat and humidity stick around most of this week, the 14-day dew point and feels-like forecast maps provide a sneak peek at any upcoming breaks — and they’re available to all members. You can choose from four membership tiers, each offering access to exclusive maps and bonus content. More info is at membership.1degreeoutside.com.
