Sun gives way to increasing clouds today as a warm front lifts north. Moisture is limited, but a few light snow showers develop—first across the Berkshires and VT, then spreading east through central/northern NH and ME. Expect coating-1″ for most spots that catch a shower, with localized 1–2″ in far northern Maine. Roads may see a few slick patches under any brief burst.
On Sunday, a secondary cold front drops south. Far northern New England can see a morning snow shower/squall; elsewhere, a stray sprinkle or flurry with little to no impact. The bigger story is the feel: each front kicks up the wind. It’s not damaging, but it’s a brisk weekend overall.
Temperatures
Saturday: ~30° along the Canadian border; 30s for many; near 40° far southern New England.
Saturday night: 20s to low 30s (north → south).
Sunday: 30s north / 40–45° south, then falling Sunday evening as cold returns.
Sunday night: Teens–20s, with wind chills subzero far north, single digits for many interior towns, and teens far south.
Monday: Quiet but chilly—20s north / 30s south; wind chills teens/20s (single digits far north).
Wind
Early Sat AM northern Maine could still gust 40–45 mph, then most of Saturday 10–25 mph, increasing to ~35 mph in the evening (isolated 40 Cape).
Sunday starts 10–20 mph, then 25–35 mph gusts with an isolated ~40 on higher terrain and Cape.
Next system (Tuesday): A fast clipper arrives early Tuesday (west first)—cold enough for snow to start. It’s quick, with low totals: coating to a few inches, and a mix possible in far southern New England. We’ll refine timing/amounts in Sunday Evening Essentials.
