A September weekend worth enjoying is here in New England. Sunshine mixes with clouds Saturday, and while a few showers bubble up in the afternoon away from the coastline, they’ll be brief and light – not enough to cancel any outdoor plans.
By Sunday, a cold front slides through, and with it comes a bit more action: scattered showers from late morning through afternoon, plus the chance for an isolated thunderstorm. The best shot for thunder looks to be in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Still, many will stay dry, and any rainfall amounts remain light.
Temperature Trends
Saturday: Seasonable, highs in the 70s, lows at night in the 50s (40s in the far North Country).
Sunday: Slightly milder, some southern New England spots near 80°, 70s elsewhere, 60s in northern Maine.
Monday & Tuesday: A crisp stretch returns with sunshine, lower humidity, and highs in the 70s.
Looking Ahead
By next weekend, a pool of Canadian cold air may dip into New England, dropping overnight lows into the 40s regionwide, with 30s and likely frost in northern areas – a real taste of autumn chill.
Elsewhere, we’re watching a tropical wave near Africa with a moderate chance of slow development into a named storm next week.
For sports fans: Patriots at Dolphins in Miami looks hot – near 90 – but the storms plaguing South Florida this week should shift north, leaving game time mostly dry.
