Weekend Insights: Early Clouds/Fog Lift for Sun & Hit or Miss Interior Storms

Weekend mornings will start with familiar sights -low clouds and patchy fog – but as Danielle Noyes of the 1DegreeOutside Weather Network explains, those clouds will burn off, revealing sunshine for many areas, especially inland. Temperatures will climb well into the 80s Saturday and Sunday through the interior, while the coastline remains cooler in the upper 70s to around 80° thanks to an onshore breeze.

Afternoon storms will be possible both Saturday and Sunday, but most will be isolated and slow-moving, mainly impacting Western New England. Recent rainfall has saturated the ground in spots, so any additional heavy downpours could lead to localized flooding. Danielle advises using the interactive radar in our free app to track these pop-up storms in real time. Despite storm chances, she reassures that most cities and towns will stay dry for large stretches of both weekend days – and even if you do find yourself under some action – you can duck inside briefly should you need to.

More scattered thunderstorms are likely on Monday as a cold front pushes through New England. A few of those storms could be strong, with gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Tuesday offers a short break with a few early showers possible on the South Coast, then drying skies and rising temperatures. In fact, the heat looks to build midweek, setting the stage for a potential heat wave by Thursday in some towns (away from the coast where seabreezes may bring some relief).
