First, a quick nod to the rain we banked: a widespread 1–2″ with locally higher totals. That didn’t make this week’s Drought Monitor (it tallies Tue–Tue), so we’ll look for some improvement on the next update. For now, the “extreme” drought (red) relaxed a bit across northern New Hampshire and parts of western Maine, while severe drought still stretches through central New Hampshire and expanded across much of southern Maine –  work left to do.

Weekend setup

A dip in the jet stream—the classic cool-season trough – holds over the Northeast, keeping us cooler than normal while the Pacific jet blasts into the Northwest (rain there, mountain snow at elevation). Locally, that translates to a pretty nice November weekend: varying sun/clouds, a gradually easing wind, and just a few leftover snow showers/sprinkles in far northern New England early Saturday before ending.

• Saturday morning: West wind remains breezy; isolated gusts near 40 mph on the hilltops and Cape, briefly over 40 mph central/eastern Maine.
• Afternoon/evening: Most gusts 20–30 mph, then slowly relaxing.
• Sunday: Much lighter overall; a few 20 mph puffs with mixing and sun.

• Saturday: 40s north, 50s south; wind knocks “feels-like” down ~5–10°.
• Saturday night: Cold, clear pockets—20s for interior NNE and interior SNE; 30–35° coast; near 40° Cape.
• Sunday: Similar highs (40s/50s) but less wind—noticeably nicer.
• Gillette tailgating: 40s in the AM to around 50° at kickoff.

Next chance of rain

Clouds increase Monday with a southwest breeze (10–20 mph). Showers and a few downpours arrive late Monday/Monday night with a passing disturbance and cold front. The rain is out early Tuesday; sun returns, and a few flakes may visit the higher terrain. Highs settle in the 50s Tuesday.
